Space Shuttle Challenger Disaster, on Januray 28, 1986 the NASA space shuttle Challenger exploded after the O-ring seal in its right booster failed causing a flame to leak and make contact with AMMONIUM PERCHLORATE causing the explosion.

Exposure to oxygen and/or mild heating causes explosion reactions. Used in rocket propellants such as the space shuttle and rocket boosters. Emits dust-like particles in the air after explosions.

On January 17, 1997 an unmanned Delta II exploded at Cape Canaveral, Florida. An officer announced over the PA system loudspeaker: “Take cover immediately from falling debris. I’ll say again take cover from falling debris.” Sheriff’s deputies warned nearby residents stay indoors, and close all windows and switch off air conditioning systems off! Residents felt the blast 25 Miles away.

On September 11, 2001 two planes penetrate the World Trade Center Towers, causing an explosion big enough to bring massive steel reinforced buildings down.
